This site is a communications tool for the Activities Committee
for Local 729 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees,
representing motion picture set painters and sign writers in Hollywood, CA.

After presenting several ideas
about helping the union to grow in our ever-changing industry,
Karen Schmidt, Charlie Bright, Mary Kay Campbell,
Katherine Gardener, and Teresa Gardener were appointed to the committee
with the goal of increasing union members' awareness of
and participation in union activities.
The Activities Committee assists in accomplishing the tasks
set forth by Local 729 in its Constitution.

Committee meetings are held at a variety of locations
within the local's jurisdiction.
They are relatively informal, and it is the committee's hope,
as well as that of the local's executive board,
that members can come together in a casual environment
to pool resources and ideas for increasing interest, improving work conditions,
and maintaining a strong voice within the union and throughout the industry.
