I've divided Web Design into three main phases. I've included some generic pricing guides for each section: these are only intended as guidelines. Pricing is based on the requirements for each individual project, depending on the degree of difficulty to incorporate all the features you want and the amount of time and resources I will need to complete that phase. All prices are in US $.

    1. DESIGNING THE WEBSITE

This is the obvious Step 1. This includes organizing the information you will be presenting; selecting style, tone, and color scheme; and putting together a high-resolution mock-up of the website that can be used in building the site. I work primarily in Adobe Photoshop at this stage.

FOR THE CONSULTATION: You should have an idea of what you want and don't want. Do you already have a logo or theme that you want to incorporate? What are the important categories you need to display? Is there data that you will need to organize (like a filing system for photographs, poetry, or art)? Do you intend to have video or music streaming on your website? Do you want to sell something online, or is this site a supplement to a storefront ("brick and mortar") business? Bring anything you have that can help - websites that evoke the feel you want, photos that you may want to use, or even scraps of fabric whose texture you want to simulate in your graphics. Also, I recommend looking at other websites that cater to your industry - this tells you what information you may want to include, and gives you an opportunity to see how you can make your site stand out.

PRICING: Depending on the project and on how much is provided to me during the Consultation and Follow-Up, prices for the Design phase start at $200. Take this into consideration - do you have the materials ready for me just to put together, or will I be designing from scratch? The complexity of the design will also influence the final cost.

    2. BUILDING THE WEBSITE

You may be a developer who has all the tools and just couldn't think of how to put them all to use, or maybe you have a developer who is going to handle the logistics, but you just wanted to pin down that elusive Style element. In that case, you probably won't need me to build your site. If, however, you have the design and the content and just need me to put it together for you, I usually can do so (don't forget, there are some skills that I just haven't acquired yet - I will be honest with you if I feel something is beyond my capabilities). If you have the design but are unclear on the content, I can help guide you.

FOR THE CONSULTATION: If I designed the site, you and I will already have this information. If not, I'll need to get the mock-up provided by your designer, any content you want to use, and an explanation of your organization system. If you are missing some of that, we may need to complete the Design process before proceeding (I promise to be fair in determining whether Design fees would apply). If you plan to sell online, I'll need to know which shoppingcart you intend to use or help you select one. I will also need to know if you have a webhost and domain name already. I do not provide Web Hosting or Domain Name services, but I can help you get setup. I use:
    $0 Web Hosting

PRICING: This starts at $50 per page for a standard site, meaning that a site like mine (which has 18 pages) would be priced at approximately $900 to build. If the design demands software registration, I will facilitate that for you, but you will be purchasing it directly from the distributor, and registering it to you or your business. That way, you will have complete control in maintaining your site. There may be additional fees for setting up shoppingcarts or incorporating difficult aspects of the design; those would be determined and agreed to on a case-by-case basis.

    3. MAINTAINING & (gasp) REDESIGNING THE WEBSITE

Okay, you're done. But you just added a show to your tour and wanted to put up pictures from the album release party! The truth is, no matter how great your site is, it needs to be updated in order to stay interesting. If you feel up to it, I can show you how to make simple updates to your site. If you don't feel comfortable with that, or if you want to make a more involved alteration, I can maintain it for you.

FOR THE CONSULTATION: If it's a major change, we may need to revisit the previous Design and Build phases. But for less labor-intense pursuits, it should be as simple as you giving me the information, and me adding it for you.

PRICING: Depending on how much and how often you need your site updated, we can arrange a flat monthly or annual fee, or price it for individual updates. Please contact me for details.
