I began designing fliers and websites for other artists
like me: haphazard and raw and very bad with paperwork
- not alphabetized and subcategorized and ready to
be taken seriously.
From those experiences (fun, but often frustrating),
I developed my personal game plan, and found that
it applies not just to websites, but to all aspects
of design and business organization. The key to success,
I've discovered, is preparation. Coupled with strong,
clear communication, things fly from start to finish.
These are the basics for any project:
A brief description of what you envision (one or
two sentences is fine, ).
A description of the content you'd like to have
on your website. Ideally, this will be a brief
outline in text format. If you don't know exactly
what you want, don't worry - just approximate.
A few examples (physical items, swatches, photos,
printouts, and/or URL's) showing what you like.
Your deadline(s) and timeline.
Your target budget.
I don't begin designing until the foundation material
is ready. Click on one of the products listed to the
left for specific suggestions on what information
would help during the first consultation, as the design
process goes on, and in order to complete the project.
If you are unclear about some of the things, you may
find that the consultation clarifies them for you.
The project gets finished more quickly and suits your
needs more accurately once you've organized the information.
Then you can use that method throughout your business
structure, giving you a more orderly way of accessing
your information, and making you more efficient and
professional.
I'm just an artist, a designer, and a friend who can
help you put your best foot forward. In that spirit,
I offer the initial consultation for free (via phone,
email, or - if you are local - in person). Pricing
is set before I begin designing, so you will know
exactly what to expect. No tricks or unwanted surprises
- and if I'm caught off guard by something, I will
let you know right away so we can re-evaluate and
find the best solution together.
